INACTIVITY

  • WORD FUEL ART:

    • PICTURE- I took this photograph of a newly planted Lily Magnolia at Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia. These trees easily tolerate fumes and grime from cities and thus are often found in city parks.

    • FLOWER MEDICINE- Magnolia Tree energies help to strengthen and activate the heart chakra and help facilitate the alignment of the heart and your higher intellect. It reminds us to be true to our ideas and our heart even when under pressure.

    • COLOR THERAPY- Green is soothing, restful, and nurturing. It provides balance and restores body, mind, and spirit, making it a perfect addition to your home or workspace for Spring. It is the color of nature and symbolizes GROWTH and abundance.

Happy Spring Equinox and New Moon in Aries!

Words and nature are my fuel and help me make sense of life when it isn't straightforward. So I chose a word each morning to represent my intention for the day. The first week of March was especially challenging, and I finally surrendered and chose one I had never even thought of before- INACTIVITY. Sometimes when you do everything you can, but you still feel like you are swimming upstream and there are too many logs coming downstream to avoid, the best thing to do is nothing. Surrender to what is and hold on to trust in divine timing. So instead, I took the late afternoon to walk through the park and enjoy the flowers blooming and all the breathtaking colors. It alleviated some of the tension I had been feeling and my frustration with this liminal space I'm in.

Surrendering to INACTIVITY also cleared space and allowed the answers I had been trying to force to come naturally the next day. If I had continued to use activity as a way to alleviate the discomfort I was feeling, I would have missed the signs and answers.

I decided to see if there were any good quotes about inactivity, but unfortunately, I found the opposite. If you google it, the most prominent thing you find are messages like, "Inactivity is death" or "Idleness is the parent of mischief." My research was disheartening but solidified it as an essential part of life's cycle that we often miss, and that will be part of my rewritten definition of success. This message feels like an especially important reminder as we move into Spring and Aries season this week. So, the challenge is to balance the activity and growth this season fuels and inspires with times of inactivity so we can grow sustainably.

XOXO - April
